Hoppy Father’s Day – Jeremy’s Top Picks for Dad

Father’s Day is just around the corner, and that calls for a beer or ten, right?!
Whoever you are celebrating this year, there’s sure to be a few winners on this list:

1. KC Bier Co. – Helles
Helles is a well made local lager. Light and easy to drink, this a no brainer for backyards and barbeques.

2. Boulevard Brewing – Noble Prize Pilsner
Want to kick it up a notch after that Helles sixer? Try Noble Prize! A new addition to Boulevard’s Smokestack Series 4pks, this amps up the pilsner idea to 7.5% abv and 32 IBUs.

3. Crane Brewing – Small Ball Saison
Local beer and baseball go hand in hand. Raytown’s Crane Brewing is a great summer saison and a great double-play. Floral, effervescent, citrusy and just enough funk to keep things interesting.

4. Torn Label – Alpha Pale Ale
Dad likes hops? This Crossroads brewed pale ale is dangerously close to IPA territory. Hoppy and fresh, with a good malt backbone. This beer flies off the shelves already, and I suspect more than a few dad’s will be cracking them this weekend.

5. Prairie Artisan Ales – Americana
Beer and America! From Oklahoma, Prairie brings a great 7% abv hoppy farmhouse ale. Dad likes Tank 7 already? Already a fan of Small Ball? This will be a pleaser as well.

6. North Coast Brewing – Old Rasputin
Stouts are great no matter what temperature it is outside. Old Rasputin is the best go-to every-day stout. 9% ABV, $9.99 per 4pk bottles, and a score of 100 Points on RateBeer.Com. This beast of a beer brings all the signature roastiness and chocolate/coffee notes your dad likes in a stout.

7. Sierra Nevada – Sidecar Pale Ale
I’ve covered this beer in the blog before, but I can’t say enough about it. Tastes like hoppy juicy goodness, and smells like dry-hopped orange juice. This beer is bursting with flavor and aroma, and is one of my favorites in recent years from Sierra Nevada. Plus it comes in tallboys!

8. Argus Cidery – Ciderkin
We gotta put a cider in the mix! This isn’t your average cider. Brewed in Austin TX, this canned offering brings a crisp, refreshing and a lightly tart flavor. Not overly sweet like many think of with cider. A treat, and only $11.99 per 6pk!

9. Evil Twin – Nomader Weisse
Has dad gone down the rabbit hole of sours yet? If so, treat him with this lip-puckering delight. Low in ABV, high in flavor, this berliner weisse from Evil Twin doesn’t mess around.

10. Mikkeller – Brunch Weasel
Gotta have a coffee stout in the mix. Brunch Weasel is the bombastic boozefest that your dad needs in his coffee cup to start the day. Brewed with Vietnamese Ca Phe Chon coffee, and boasting a 10.9% ABV, this beer brings the party.

As a bonus, throw in a Mike’s growler! And don’t forget to remind him that we offer 20% off all fills on Mondays! This list hopefully gave you a few ideas, but don’t hesitate to stop in one of the stores and check out the hundreds of other options. There’s something for everyone on our “wall-o-beer”.
